TRAINING WORKSHOP ADDRESSED TO OPERATORS AND ARTISTS ORGANISED AND PRESENTED BY THEAMA
ATHENS – DECEMBER 2021
On December 6 2021, THEAMA, Inclusive Theatre organised and presented a Training Workshops took place at ISON Theater venue, within the framework of the European POWER program – Creative Europe.
The workshop was conducted by Vassilis Oikonomou and Aimiliani Avraam on the subject of “Space and Time in Ancient Greek Drama”. Over 20 participants, artists and operators, from Italy, the Czech Republic, Ireland and Greece participated in the workshop that lasted 2 hours.
The methodology of inclusive approach to coaching actors was explained briefly and applied practical exercises with the participants to introduce them to the specific objectives of the Training.
The inclusive Methodology, based on the social model of disability, applied by THEAMA was briefly explained and participants were practically trained to ascertain their performing space within a group, on stage, in the focus of a spotlight, and follow the rhythm of a stage setting even when it is silent.
Within a black box setting participants exercised and improvised while applying the principles set by the training.
After a long isolation period due to the pandemic the live interaction among partners and workshop participants was quite exciting for all and the impact was positive. Disabled and non-disabled performers were fully engaged in the process, workshop language was English, and facilitators were present to translate from English to Italian and Greek to enable full participation.
During the workshop, the students of the theatrical department of ISON, Stavros Zafiris and Anastasia Makri, presented a small section of the play “Frogs” by Aristophanes.
